Dear Sir,
We send herewith a copy of the resolution adopted by the National Sectt. Meeting of the Federation held at Chennai on 12th February, 2008. We, in this connection, solicit your kind reference to the meeting the representatives of this Federation had with you on the same day at Chennai, when the disappointment and discontent of the employees over the allocation of the infra structure fund for providing facilities amongst various sections of officials and officers were presented before you. You had been good enough to assure us that the matter would be looked into and our views considered. In this connection we are also to inform you that the issue was later discussed with the CIT (Co-ord) in the office of the CBDT when we had conveyed to him the alternate proposal that could be considered to assuage the feeling of the employees in the matter.
Since nothing tangible has come about despite our best efforts, we are to inform you that the non settlement of this issue might result in treading the path of agitation by the employees.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
K.K.N.Kutty

RESOLUTION ADOPTED AT THE NATIONAL SECTT. MEETING OF THE INCOMETAX EMPLOYEES FEDERATION HELD AT CHENNAI ON 12TH FEBRUARY, 2008.
This meeting of the National Secretariat of ITEF held at Chennai on 12th February, 2008 hereby resolves to bring to the notice of the Chairman, CBDT the disappointment and discontent of the employees of the Department over the decision of the Board to utilize almost the entire infra-structure fund for providing facilities to only officers. The meeting noted with dismay that out of about 200 crores made available to the Department under this head, hardly 5 crores were allotted for providing certain infrastructure facilities to the staff. The total disregard to the efforts made by the staff members for making increased collection possible, the meeting noted, deserves to be condemned. The meeting regretted that the Board has taken a total partisan and prejudiced view in the matter.
It has, therefore, been decided to bring to your notice that this dispensation is totally unacceptable and this Federation will be constrained to advise its members to tread the path of struggles and agitation if the said decision is not rescinded and appropriate allocation of funds is not made on the basis of the cadre strength of each group of officials of the Department. The meeting has decided to reiterate its suggestion made in this regard by the ITEF vide its letter in N.1.2007 dated 14th August, 2007, a copy of which is enclosed for your ready reference addressed to the Commissioner of Income tax (Co-ord) of the CBDT.
The meeting has advised the Sectt. of the Federation to await for a response from the Board in the matter till 31st March, 2008 and convey to you that if no satisfactory settlement is brought about in the matter, the ITEF will be compelled to launch a total non-co-operation movement and such other agitational methods as it deem necessary to create the necessary sanction so that justice is rendered to the employees of the Department.
